BMW succeeded in making a great car: The BMW M2 is simply perfect! And it gets even better with the original M Performance parts. Have a look at the premiere at the Salon International de l’Auto in Geneva with Live photo coverage!
You get behind the wheel, switch on the engine and you know: This feels just like a tailor-made suit. The BMW M2 looks stunning and fits perfect. And after a daytrip with the new M Coupe to the Laguna Seca racetrack just a few days ago I can say: It also drives perfect!
To make a long story short: This is the essence of BMW M. This is a new legend which we could – no, we have to – mention in the same breath as the BMW M3 E30 and the M1.
A few weeks ago at the Detroit Motor Show, the BMW M2 celebrated its world premiere. Shortly after the premiere the first journalists were invited to the sunny state of California and raced the M2 through the infamous corkscrew-corner at the Laguna Seca racetrack. And now – four weeks ahead of the market launch – the BMW M2 is unveiled at the Salon International de l’Auto in Geneva with the M Performance accessories.
The accessories, with which a M2 owner can treat himself after the delivery, sharpen the exterior design and the power of the compact Coupé.
The M Performance parts will be made available alongside the market launch of the M2. Customers can choose from motorsport-inspired components to enhance the aerodynamic, engine, cockpit or chassis of the car.
The aerodynamic components are made from carbon-fiber reinforced plastic (CFRP). The parts include front and side sill attachments, a rear diffuser, a rear spoiler and mirror caps. The accessories aren’t just fulfilling an exterior design purpose. Form follows function. All parts are effectively harmonized with each other and contribute to an optimized airflow around the vehicle. The result is an even more uncompromisingly handling of the M2.
Exactly the same impact is delivered by the thread chassis. It reduces the ground clearance of the M Coupe compared to the standard chassis by at least 0.196 inch. Thanks to the thread technology it is even possible to lower the car by another 0.787 inch. Additionally, the damper of the car can also be adjusted. The complete chassis can be configured according to the driver’s needs. When comparing the M Performance chassis with the standard-fitted M2 chassis, the M Performance chassis convinces with a stiffer tuning and optimized nick and roll behavior.
M2 drivers not only looking for an enhanced driving experience but also for more butterflies in their stomach, should select the M Performance flap exhaust system in combination with the flap silencer system. The system can be operated via a Bluetooth remote control and offers two operating modes, namely Sport and Track, which adjust the exhaust sound of the M2. The chrome tailpipes of the exhaust system come standard with a diameter of 3.149 inch. Optional carbon fiber tailpipes, with a diameter of 3.661 inch, can be ordered as well.
Also the interior design can be enhanced with M Performance parts, such as LED door sill cover strips, floor mats and stainless steel pedal covers. The Alcantara steering wheel is unique – no other manufacturer in the automotive industry offers such a product. It features a light-blue center marking at the 12 o’clock position. The driver is able to keep an eye on information, such as the lap times, the gear switch indicator and the force effect via the integrated race display.
At the Salon International de l’Auto in Geneva the BMW M2 presents, for the first time ever, all its M Performance parts. The first cars will finally be delivered to customers in the mid of April.
